SRE can help you ensure you meet or exceed IECC energy efficiency standards

The IECC encourages energy conservation through efficiency in envelope design, mechanical systems, lighting systems and the use of new materials and techniques. Certification provides your construction with IECC compliance, which is required in some municipalities and optional in others.

The Certification Process

Building plans are submitted for evaluation by an IECC-registered officer at SRE prior to construction. If the plans do not meet IECC requirements, we will provide guidance on steps that need to be taken to make them IECC-compliant. Once the plans are IECC-compliant, they can be submitted to the city for approval. The building must then pass two inspections—one during construction prior to the installation of exterior sheathing and one after construction is completed—to receive IECC certification.

Homebuyer Benefit

While not as stringent or prominent as the ENERGY STAR™, IECC certification does provide homebuyers with independent verification that their home has been constructed to meet recommended federal energy efficiency standards.
