The ALA Health House® certification is gained through a series of site inspections during construction and performance tests upon completion which evaluate indoor air quality. The high indoor air quality standards of a Health House® are achieved by integrating advanced air sealing and insulation techniques, high-performance windows, high-efficiency heating and air conditioning systems, whole house air filtration, proper ventilation, and carefully selected interior finishes and materials. The Certification ProcessCompleted building plans are submitted to SRE to be analyzed by specialized REM/Rate™ software prior to construction. We’ll provide guidance on what steps, if any, need to be taken to meet ALA standards. Updated building plans are then sent to the ALA for review. To verify the home meets ALA standards, visual and diagnostic evaluations such as duct blaster tests and blower door tests are conducted during construction and a final inspection is conducted upon completion. Once verification is complete, the home is awarded the Health House® certification.
