Home Energy Cost Monitor

The SRE Home Energy Cost Monitor provides real-time feedback on your home’s energy consumption. With visibility into how your home uses energy, you have the knowledge you need to make simple and immediate changes that can save energy and save money.

Essential Energy Audit

A SRE Essential Energy Audit identifies the specific issues affecting your home’s energy efficiency and provides tailored solutions that will show you how to save energy and save on your utility bills. Performed by an energy efficiency expert, the Essential Energy Audit includes a thorough visual inspection of the key components that influence your home’s energy performance, including: doors, windows, walls, attic space, insulation, appliances, air conditioning and heating equipment, and lighting. The audit results in a detailed report that shows you which improvements will provide the greatest energy savings in your home.

A/C & Heating Precision Tune-Up Plans (PTPs)

With an SRE A/C & Heating Precision Tune-Up Plan, our certified technicians will perform two professional maintenance visits each year to keep your system in peak operating condition, saving you money on your heating and cooling costs.

In addition, as a SRE PTP customer, you’ll be eligible for priority emergency service, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and discounts on service calls and repairs as well as special pricing on accessories, upgrades, and new equipment.

Programmable Thermostat

Installing a SRE programmable thermostat can save you up to 33 percent on your annual heating and cooling costs. You set the thermostat to adjust the temperature when you are away or asleep, times when you don’t necessarily need to heat or cool your home to optimum comfort, and you save money by not heating and cooling your home more than you need to. Enter your custom temperature preference settings once, and then you can forget about it until you see your savings on your energy bills.

Energy Efficient CFL Bulbs

SRE offers a wide variety of energy-efficient CFL bulbs for the entire home that are specially designed to mimic the shape and light color of traditional incandescent bulbs, while using only a fraction of the energy.

Compared to traditional incandescent light bulbs SRE’s energy-efficient compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs use 75% less electricity to generate the same color and brightness of light, saving you money every month on your electricity bills.

Solar Water Heating

Water heating is the second greatest energy drain in a home behind air conditioning and heating, and can account for nearly 25 percent of your home’s total energy use. Solar water heating is a very simple concept: it uses the sun’s vast, renewable energy to heat water for your home. Solar water heating is an effective, reliable alternative to conventional means of heating water. Plus it lowers your energy costs and reduces your use of fossil fuels, which decreases pollution and greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to environmental problems like global warming, smog, and acid rain.

Solar Electric Systems

Solar electric systems generate clean, renewable electricity for over 25 years and are a great investment for any home. They not only can significantly reduce, or even eliminate, your overall energy bill, but they reduce your use of fossil fuels, which decreases pollution and greenhouse gas emissions which contribute to environmental problems like global warming, smog, and acid rain.

High Efficiency Heating and Cooling

Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems are the single largest source of home energy consumption. That’s why you stand to save a lot of money by upgrading your HVAC system with components designed for energy efficiency. Upgrading to a high-performance system from Standard Renewable Energy will improve your home’s air quality, comfort, and energy efficiency. And the best part is that you’ll be able to achieve greater comfort and lower electric bills at the same time.

Insulation

Most homes are wasting energy simply by not having enough insulation in the attic. Insulation keeps warm air in your home during the winter, and hot air out of your home in the summer. Without sufficient insulation your heating and air conditioning system has to work overtime to keep your home comfortable, costing you extra money in heating and cooling costs.

By adding insulation to achieve the recommended insulating values for your climate, you can not only save every month on your energy bills, you’ll keep your home more comfortable as well.

Window Film

A protective film covering over your windows will keep the bad stuff out while still letting the light in. Sunlight brings 2 problems with it when it passes through your home’s windows: heat and ultraviolet (UV) light. Heat makes you spend more money to keep your home cool, and UV light can be harmful to furniture and people. Solar window film will not only save money and reduce UV exposure, it will improve comfort, visibility, privacy, and safety.

Weatherization

Sealing air leaks is one of the most cost-effective ways for reducing energy loss. Applying caulk and weatherstripping around the inside and outside of doors and windows will prevent warm air from leaking into your home during the summer and out of your home during the winter.

Window Caulking
Applying caulk around windows both inside and out will prevent the infiltration of hot air from outside and leakage of conditioned air during the summer and infiltration of cool air from the outside and leakage of heated air during the winter. It is important to ensure the windows are sealed both where the glass meets the frames and where the window unit meets the home.

Insulating Foam Sealant
Air leaks through holes and cracks account for 30-50% of home heating and cooling loss. It is important to seal these gaps which can be found around electrical outlets, plumbing lines, doors, windows and more.

Door Weather Stripping
Weather-stripping your exterior doors will reduce air infiltration. While this may not seem to be a large factor in your home's performance, keep this in mind: a 1/8 inch gap around a door is equal to having a 6 inch by 6 inch hole in your wall.

Window Weather Stripping
Windows are a commonly overlooked area for infiltration, and weather-stripping is a quick and easy solution that will make a noticeable difference on comfort.

Seal Can Lights
Sealing your can lights in your attic will prevent the infiltration of your conditioned space. Contractors typically overlook sealing can lights, but they are simply holes in your ceiling, and should be insulated. We suggest spray foam insulation, as it adheres to its surroundings, creating a tighter seal around the recessed can.

Outlet Gaskets
Outlet gaskets are an inexpensive way to seal all walls. Electrical boxes behind wall sockets penetrate into the wall cavity, which make them potential sources of air leakage. These polyethelyne foam gaskets install behind electric outlet plate covers to reduce drafts.
